A guy early on in my promotion of my art told me to think big. Kinda the same thing as seeking rejection. It's not personal when the void ignores you, things happen for a reason. But if you shoot for the stars, it's possible to reach them. If you shoot for the moon, it's impossible to reach the stars.

I like the question you pose, both in terms of performance rhythms and life rhythms. On stage, it builds more tension, and I'd imagine that builds the laugh response. In life, perhaps it frees us up...and encourages us, too, to give up our foolish hopes of perfection.
